History of Techturn

Founded in Austin, Texas in 1999, TechTurn has been a dominant player in the fast-growing IT asset recovery business since its inception. During the past eight years, our growing global presence and world-class facilities and operations have not only propelled us to the top of the recovery business, it has helped position the company as an innovative e-waste recycler and industry thought leader.

In addition to our industry-leading recovery services, TechTurn is helping to bridge the digital divide, providing high-quality rebuilt technology systems and components to those who need them most. By creating the global foundation for sustainable technology, we’re known for providing enterprises and organizations with an economically smart, environmentally friendly and risk-free method for the collecting, recycling and reselling of used technology—so it can continue to benefit others. 

Today, TechTurn operates two high-efficiency, maximum-security facilities in Austin, Texas and Richmond, Virginia.  Through these locations, TechTurn can process 15,000 units daily.

Privately held, TechTurn meets or exceeds all quality and environmental standards. In addition, the company is committed to ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental, health and safety organizations and legislations including the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Defense, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Gramm-Leach-Blilely Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the European Union Data Protection Directive.

TechTurn is also a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher and a member of several industry associations including: Association of Service and Computer Dealers International (ASCDI), Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), International Association of Electronics Recyclers (IAER) and the Reverse Logistics Trade Association.
